On Saturday 27 August, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti concluded an agreement on free movement between the two countries under the auspices of the European Union.
For example, Serbia agreed to abolish entry/exit documents for Kosovo ID card holders, and Kosovo agreed not to introduce them for Serbian ID card holders. An introduction was planned for 1 September.
“Kosovo Serbs, as well as all other citizens, will be able to travel freely between Kosovo and Serbia using the ID cards”, EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said in a statement.
The issue of car number plates has not yet been resolved (see EUROPE 12799/20). “This work on freedom of movement is not finished. There are still some outstanding issues and I expect the two leaders to continue to be pragmatic and constructive in resolving the number plate issue”, added Borrell.
