29/08/2022 (Agence Europe) – By 2021, 56% of EU companies reached a basic level of digital intensity, according to results presented by Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office, on Friday 26 August. A basic level implies the use of at least four of the twelve selected digital technologies (such as the use of artificial intelligence technology, the fact that online sales represent at least 1% of total turnover, etc.). Fifty-five percent of SMEs achieved a ‘basic’ level of digital intensity, compared to 88% of large companies. The highest proportion of enterprises achieving a very high level of digital intensity was found in Finland, Denmark and Malta (10% each) and Sweden (9%). At the same time, Romania and Bulgaria were lagging behind with about three quarters of enterprises characterised by very low digital intensity (77 and 74%, respectively). (PH)
