08/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Health, Stella Kyriakides, announced on Thursday 7 July a second round of deliveries of third generation monkeypox vaccines developed by Bavarian Nordic. 5,300 doses of vaccine were being sent to Spain, 5,300 to Germany, 2,700 to Portugal and 340 to Belgium, according to figures released by the European Commission, which are subject to change. This supply of vaccines represents the first purchase made by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) on behalf of the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA). The purchase of 109,090 doses was funded by the European budget under the EU4Health programme. The vaccines are distributed to the Member States, Norway and Iceland in proportion to their population, with priority given to the most affected states (see EUROPE 12971/4). (EV)
