French digital sector in Brussels structures itself by launching ‘Fédération française des technologies

The meeting and networking club for French nationals living in Brussels and working in the technology and digital sector will be officially launched on Tuesday 5 July.

Officially registered under the name ‘Fédération française des technologies’ (French Technology Federation) (FFT) and until now funded by the three co-founders, this non-profit organization currently brings together members from industry, associations as well as the Commission, EU Council and European Parliament.

Some people in the digital sector, such as the Italians or the Dutch, had a club, but we French did not. So we are launching the ‘Federation’ to meet new compatriots, French people, from the tech world. We are getting structured and organised”, explained William Dazy, co-founder and deputy managing director of Euros/Agency.

The FFT operates by co-option. This will limit - or even “prevent” - some people from using the non-profit organisation for intense lobbying purposes, says Mr Dazy, who expects three to four events to take place each year.

We are not an influential group, unlike what some people say. You will never see an amendment or a position paper coming from us”, insists William Dazy.

The official launch will take place at The Merode club, in the presence of the French Ambassador to the EU, Philippe Léglise-Costa, where 120 people are expected by the co-founders for this premiere. (Original version in French by Thomas Mangin)
