04/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 4 July, the European Commission announced that it had approved the addition of ‘Queso de Acehúche’ from Spain to the Community protected designation of origin (PDO) register. ‘Queso de Acehúche’ is a cheese made exclusively from raw goat’s milk and produced in the centre-west of the province of Cáceres. The long tradition of goat rearing in the region, combined with a cheese-making process without any heat treatment - used by local producers who apply traditional knowledge and techniques - results in the distinctive shape, texture, aroma and flavour of this cheese. This new designation is added to the list of 1,585 agricultural products already protected, the list of which is available in the eAmbrosia database and on the GIView website. (LC)
