04/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission is inviting citizens and stakeholders to take part in a public consultation, with the feedback period open until 19 September, on the new EU global health strategy it is preparing. Launched on 27 June for 12 weeks, this consultation concerns the update of the 2010 strategy, which both the Commission and the Council of the EU want to strengthen by giving the EU a global leadership role (see EUROPE 12971/24, 12963/4). The initiative is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022. This future strategy will be based on the ‘One Health’ approach and will take into account the geopolitical challenges of health. It will aim in particular to strengthen pandemic preparedness and response - an objective pursued by the future global agreement currently being negotiated at the WHO and to be concluded in 2024.
