Adoption of Partnership Agreement with Poland

At the end of June, the European Commission announced the adoption of the Partnership Agreement with Poland in the area of cohesion for the period 2021-2027.

Poland, which remains the largest recipient of EU funds, will have €76.5 billion to promote economic, social and territorial cohesion in Polish regions, while boosting climate and digital transitions. This envelope is to be divided between eight national programmes, 16 regional programmes, eight cross-border cooperation programmes and four interregional cooperation programmes.

An amount of €17.9 billion will be invested in renewable energy and the circular economy, says the EU institution in a statement. European aid will also support, to the tune of €20 billion, the decarbonisation of the transport sector, investment in rail and clean public transport.

The Just Transition Fund will provide €3.85 billion to the five regions most negatively affected by the transition to a climate neutral economy (Silesia, Greater Poland, Lower Silesia, Łódzkie and Lesser Poland voivodeships).

The European Social Fund plus will provide €12.9 billion in total, which will support employment and social measures, with a particular focus on the participation of women in the labour market and the provision of childcare services.

The Polish partnership is the eleventh to be adopted.
