30/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – As announced last May (https://aeur.eu/f/2fx ), the State aid COVID Temporary Framework will not be extended beyond 30 June 2022 for most tools, the European Commission confirmed on Thursday 30 June. On 19 March 2020, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Commission adopted this scheme to enable Member States to use the full flexibility foreseen under State aid rules to support the economy and the most severely affected companies and sectors, while respecting the conditions of competition. The Temporary Framework has been amended six times, the last time on 18 November 2021. To date, the Commission has adopted more than 1,350 decisions approving around 980 national measures notified by the 27 Member States, for a total amount of approved State aid estimated at around €3.2 trillion.
