30/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 June, the European Commission launched a call for proposals for cross-border rail services, as part of the action plan to promote this mode of transport and make it “attractive” for long, cross-border journeys. “We need more cross-border rail links, they must be faster and more affordable. Today, cross-border rail still faces obstacles that hinder the operation and development of new services”, said Transport Commissioner Adina Vălean. The projects submitted may propose new services or improve existing ones. The call for proposals will close on 31 October. (TM)
