30/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 30 June in Brussels the European Commission and Switzerland signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the second Swiss contribution to economic and social cohesion in the EU aimed at reducing “disparities within the EU” and deepening cooperation in the field of migration, explains the Commission. This financial contribution of CHF 1 billion over a period of 5 years is seen as a counterpart to Switzerland’s participation in the single market. The Cohesion Framework Credit of CHF 1,047 million will go to “13 countries that joined the EU in 2004 (EU-13). The framework credit for migration, amounting to CHF 190 million, is intended to finance measures in the field of migration, not only in the EU-13, but also in the other EU countries”, explains the Swiss government.
