30/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 June, Luxembourg adopted a declaration following the adoption of the EU Council’s negotiating mandate on the Secure Connectivity Constellation (see EUROPE 12982/10), in which it emphasises the importance of the private sector in the success of the programme. The paper, seen by EUROPE, warns of “market distortions” and the risks of a shrinking commercial market in government services. Such a situation would “reduce the possibility of private funding”. The paper stresses the importance of visibility of investments after 2027. “The European private sector must be strengthened in the face of global competition, not divided or put under pressure”, insists the Grand Duchy. The aim is to give clear guidance to the incoming Czech Presidency of the EU Council, which will start inter-institutional negotiations with the European Parliament in the autumn. (PH)
