21/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 20 June, the European Commission opened a contribution period concerning the reporting environment for the Maritime Single Window. In concrete terms, the Commission’s aim with this initiative is to standardise and define the features of the European Maritime Single Window system so that ship reporting systems are the same in all Member States. The text specifies that national Maritime Single Windows should “provide registrants with graphical user interfaces with all the functionalities necessary to fulfil the reporting obligations” and that a common list of functionalities should therefore be defined. However, the Commission also argues that Member States could propose additional functionalities in their graphical interface in order to minimise costs and ensure compatibility with existing interfaces.
