24/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) has begun deploying a small contingent of its staff to Moldova to support the country in dealing with people fleeing the invasion of Ukraine, it announced in a statement on Tuesday 24 May. This is the first ever deployment of personnel by the EUAA to a non-EU country. At this stage, the EUAA is deploying six persons in Chisinau to support the flow of information for the refugee transfer programme to the EU. Deployments, including interpreters, could increase as needs in the country evolve, the statement added. (SP)
