24/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 24 May, the Council of the EU adopted two assistance measures using the European Peace Facility for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. These measures had been politically agreed at the Foreign Affairs Council of 18 May (see EUROPE 12953/2). €490 million of these funds will be spent on military equipment designed to provide lethal force for defensive purposes. The remaining €10 million will cover the provision of equipment and supplies, such as personal protective equipment, first aid kits and fuel. These measures are the fourth tranche of support under the European Peace Facility since the beginning of the war, bringing the total amount to €2 billion. (CG)
