23/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 23 May, the European Commission launched a call for input on draft legislation to effectively ban the marketing in the EU of products produced in whole or in part by the use of forced labour, in line with the European Commission President’s announcements in September 2021 on decent work (see EUROPE 12642/16). This ban would cover both imported products and those produced in the single market. Implementation would be risk-based and would probably be carried out by national authorities. The European Commission would mainly play a supporting role (guidelines, etc.). The institution hopes to adopt a proposal in the third quarter of 2022. For more information: https://aeur.eu/f/1sd (PH)
