19/05/22 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 18 May, the European Commission approved €25 million in French aid to help businesses in the fisheries sector in the context of the war in Ukraine started by Russia. The measure was approved under the State Aid Temporary Crisis Framework (23 March 2022). The aid will take the form of a direct grant. Eligible beneficiaries will be entitled to an amount of aid calculated as follows: €0.35 per litre of fuel for the period between 17 and 31 March 2022 and €0.15 per litre of fuel for the period between 1 April and 31 July 2022. These direct grants can be cumulated with aid from the so-called ‘de minimis’ aid. The aim is to help fishermen overcome rising energy prices. (LC)
