19/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – Annual inflation in the euro area was 7.4% in April, unchanged from March, according to final figures released by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat). In the European Union, it was 8.1%, compared to 7.8% in March. The lowest annual rates were observed in France, Malta (both 5.4%) and Finland (5.8%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Estonia (19.1%), Lithuania (16.6%) and the Czech Republic (13.2%). Inflation was 6.3% in Italy, 7.8% in Germany, and 8.3% in Spain. The largest contributions to annual inflation in the euro area came from energy (+3.70 percentage points), followed by services (+1.38 pp), food, alcohol & tobacco (+1.35 pp) and industrial goods excluding energy (+1.02 pp).
