06/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 May, the Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, Virginijus Sinkevičius, will visit Norway to discuss various issues. He will meet the country’s fisheries minister, Bjørnar Skjæran, and speak at several events, including at the Arctic University of Norway, where he will present the EU Strategy for the Arctic and talk to researchers. He will visit the Rystraumen Marine Protected Area and the Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research (Nofima). On Monday, Commissioner Sinkevičius will have a working lunch with the Mayor of Tromsø, Gunnar Wilhelmsen, and on Tuesday, a meeting with the Arctic Mayors’ Forum. He will conclude his visit with a speech at the Arctic University of Norway on the sustainable use of the ocean in the face of climate change and biodiversity challenges. (LC)
