06/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – In the evening of Thursday 5 May, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service condemned the terrorist attack that took place earlier that day in Elad, in central Israel, during the Independence Day celebrations. At least three civilians were killed and many others injured. Two people reportedly attacked passers-by with an axe and a gun. “This violence must stop. The European Union remains firmly committed to the prevention and fight against terrorism”, the spokesperson stressed, adding that the EU stands by Israel and its people at this difficult time. This is the sixth attack since 22 March. In retaliation, Israeli forces conducted several operations in the West Bank. (CG)
