27/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – After a first trilogue meeting on Monday 28 March, the interinstitutional negotiations on the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) continue. The Council of the EU, the European Parliament and the European Commission met again on Monday 25 April. According to our sources, three points are at the heart of the debate: - the definition of the framework with the exclusion of companies from third countries; - the definition of high-risk areas; - the separation of financial and non-financial reporting. These three points are indeed additions from the Parliament (see EUROPE 12911/17), while the EU Council’s position remains close to the European Commission’s original proposal (see EUROPE 12898/17). According to our sources, the European Commission will reportedly propose a new compromise text. Trilogue negotiations will continue in mid-May. (AD)
