08/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament negotiating group and the French Presidency of the Council of the EU made progress on Wednesday 6 April on the directive on minimum wages, notably on the issue of public procurement (art. 9). Here, the co-legislators agreed not to go beyond the legal obligations of the “relevant” directives, while stressing the importance of not awarding public procurement contracts to companies that do not respect legal minimum wages or collective agreements, we were told. On 26 April, the co-legislators will meet to discuss Article 5 on how to calculate the adequacy of statutory minimum wages. “It will be a big trilogue”, said one source. Articles 4 on the promotion of collective agreements and 6 on variations and deductions from minimum wages will also be addressed. (PH)
