European Parliament forecasts 6.24% spending increase in 2023

On Thursday 7 April the European Parliament forecast a 6.24% increase in its operating expenditure next year compared to 2022, bringing its total ‘estimates’ for 2023 to €2.24 billion.

In adopting the report by Niclas Herbst (EPP, Germany) on the European Parliament’s estimates of revenue and expenditure for 2023, the European Parliament is planning 60 new posts related to cybersecurity and security, but is only requesting 52 additional posts in the establishment plan for 2023.
