11/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – EASPD, the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities, Inclusion Europe and the European Disability Forum (EDF) expressed their concern about the situation of people with disabilities in Ukraine at a conference on Thursday 10 March. The majority of Ukraine’s 2.7 million people with disabilities are in an “extremely threatened” situation, they said, largely because they are unable to access even basic shelter. The three associations lamented that these people are not considered a priority in the political and humanitarian response to the war in Ukraine. The members of these three association are therefore calling on the EU and other institutions to provide funding and take specific actions to help this section of the Ukrainian population. (PH)
