03/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – According to a document dated 28 February and obtained by EUROPE, EU High Representative Josep Borrell wants the EU Council to adopt an assistance package under the European Peace Facility to support military units trained by the EU Training Mission in Mozambique (EUTM Mozambique). Stressing that the €40 million already agreed was sufficient to cover the needs of five of the 11 companies trained (see EUROPE 12836/23) and the capacity of the field hospital, Mr Borrell estimated that to support the remaining six companies, a further €45 million was required. “The work carried out to identify precisely the equipment to be provided has given an estimate of €7.5 million needed per company”, the document states. The first non-lethal equipment should be purchased from February 2022. (CG)
