03/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 2 March, EU High Representative Josep Borrell welcomed the adoption by the UN General Assembly a few hours earlier of a resolution on Russia’s “aggression against Ukraine” by an overwhelming majority of 141 votes in favour, 5 against and 35 abstentions. “The decision is clear. The world has issued a resounding condemnation of illegal and unprovoked attacks on a sovereign state”, Borrell said, adding that it was an “historic moment”. According to him, the United Nations has come together to express itself in accordance with the values and principles enshrined in the UN Charter. “We need to continue working for the benefit of international peace and security, protecting all states, large and small, standing by Ukraine and supporting its democratic institutions and representatives”, Borrell said.
