03/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – MEPs are considering whether to object to the draft delegated act of the EU Taxonomy Regulation, which provides for the inclusion of fossil gas and nuclear energy (see EUROPE 12882/1). The formal presentation of the draft delegated act by the European Commission is expected to take place soon after the translations of the text have been finalised, possibly as early as Tuesday 8 March. If MEPs decide to object to the act, there would be two chronological sequences depending on the date of referral to the European Parliament. In both cases, if MEPs decide to go ahead, the European Parliament’s Environment (ENVI) and Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) committees are expected to vote on a draft resolution between 14 and 21 June, and the matter could be referred to plenary in July. The Platform on Sustainable Finance will be invited to give MEPs its views on the delegated act. (Original version in French by Mathieu Bion)
