19/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU adopted a decision on Friday 19 November establishing a €40 million European Peace Facility (EPF) assistance measure for Mozambique. The funds will support Mozambican military units trained by the EU military training mission in Mozambique (EUTM Mozambique) and enable them to conduct security operations in the northern province of Cabo Delgado. The measure concerns the provision of non-lethal equipment to build the capacity of the first army companies trained by EUTM. These include individual and collective equipment, land mobility, technical tools and a field hospital. A total of 11 companies from the Mozambican army and navy will be trained over the next few years by EUTM and will then form a rapid reaction force. (CG)
