19/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 19 November, the EU Commissioner for Values and Transparency, Věra Jourová, welcomed via Twitter the effective appointment of all Deputy European Public Prosecutors to sit in the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. The previous day, the Slovenian authorities had appointed its two Deputy European Public Prosecutors - Tanja Frank Eler and Matej Oštir - who were already candidates in the two procedures launched (see EUROPE 12807/3). They stressed the temporary nature of this appointment, as long as the second procedure has not been finalised. European Commission Justice spokesman Christian Wigand said it was now up to the Chief Prosecutor, Laura Kövesi, to make an official decision on the appointment. “We’ll continue to follow developments closely until the procedure is successfully and lawfully completed”, he added.
