19/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – US multinational company Apple has strongly criticised the European Commission’s plan to simplify chargers for electronic devices and mobile phones in particular (see EUROPE 12797/1), in a response to the European consultation published on Thursday 18 November. In essence, Apple believes that this initiative will slow down innovation in both security and energy efficiency. The company also says this will produce more waste, accelerating the obsolescence of some older electronic devices. The proposal is therefore “vastly disproportionate” to the problem, Apple adds.
