19/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 16 November, the multisectoral association FERRMED published the findings of its study on priorities and objectives to achieve “efficient and sustainable” EU transport. In summary, the association thus states that “high-priority” investments are needed on around 17,800 km of rail corridors—representing about 27% of the core network of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). Moreover, about 12% of this network needs to be the target of ‘second priority’ investments, according to FERRMED. The association insists that there is also an “urgent need” to develop the connection between road and rail. This is, according to the association’s leadership, the “only way to achieve the EU’s objectives with regard to ‘greening’ the land transport system”. (TM)
