European Commission welcomes EMA scientific opinion on antimicrobials for human treatment

02/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 1 March, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) published a scientific opinion (https://aeur.eu/f/kj) crucial to the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). It was welcomed by the European Commission. The opinion contains recommendations on which antimicrobials and groups of antimicrobials should be reserved exclusively for the treatment of infections in humans, as the use of antimicrobials in animals contributes to the development of AMR.
