02/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, said on Wednesday 2 March that the sanctions that have been agreed – but not yet formally adopted – should be fully implemented before any new ones are adopted. “We have decided a package of sanctions together with our partners, our allies, two days ago (...) and we have decided to implement the package of sanctions that we have decided. That’s the priority, we want to implement what has been decided”. This was the explanation given at a press briefing held in Poland with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, when Michel was asked about a possible embargo on Russian coal and gas. Michel said that the EU was continuing to keep working and be ready, should further steps be taken. (CG)
