European Commission wants to review EU rules on electricity consumption by appliances in standby mode and off mode

The European Commission launched a public consultation on Friday 7 January on a draft implementing regulation to revise ecodesign standards for the energy consumption of household and office appliances in off mode, standby mode and networked standby mode.

These are appliances designed for use with a nominal voltage rating of 250 volts or less, such as clothes dryers, electric ovens, electric hotplates, microwave ovens, toasters and coffee machines.
