The European Commission presented its proposal on transparency of online political advertising (see EUROPE B12864A8) to MEPs in the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) on Monday 10 January.
While MEPs generally welcomed the proposal - which is part of a package of other measures aimed at strengthening democracy and the integrity of elections (see EUROPE B12840A4) - several members of the IMCO committee regretted that the text did not go far enough.
