29/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) expressed concern, on Monday 29 November, about the industry’s ability to achieve the level of ambition in the ‘Fit for 55’ package without comprehensive and multi-sectoral action. “The automotive industry’s investment in electrically charged vehicles far exceeds its investment in infrastructure”, the ACEA points out. “We may soon reach a point where the growth in electric vehicle adoption stops if consumers conclude that there are not enough charging points”, the association says. This legislative package, presented by the European Commission on 14 July, is expected to make it possible to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions in the EU by 55% (see EUROPE 12807/6).
