29/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The EU accuses Russia of discriminating against foreign companies in its public procurement and has requested the opening of an arbitration panel at the World Trade Organization (WTO) (see EUROPE 12834/12). Russia refused to open the panel at a meeting of the WTO’s Dispute Settlement Body on Monday 29 November. It considers that its existing measures are WTO compatible and is ready to continue consultations with the EU on this issue. However, Russia will not be able to oppose the opening of an arbitration panel any longer if the EU decides to ask for it again at the next meeting of the WTO’s Dispute Settlement Body. (LM)
