Energy prices and skills shortages are clouding business optimism, says Eurochambres

09/11/2021 (Agence Europe)Energy costs and shortages of raw materials and skilled workers in the EU labour market are clouding the outlook for European businesses in 2022, according to a new survey published by Eurochambres on Tuesday 9 November. Yet economic recovery was looking good in the aftermath of the pandemic, with rising domestic and external demand, and a general rise in investment. For the organisation representing the business community and chambers of commerce, the EU must adapt its energy policy to the specificities of SMEs. It supports gas as a transitional option. The development of green energy must go hand in hand with the integration of the European energy system. Vocational and adult education and training programmes need to be modernised and promote “entrepreneurship”. To access the survey: https://bit.ly/3bXTxB0 (PH)
