09/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The launch of a semiconductor initiative, the EU’s industrial autonomy and the legislative dossiers on the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the Digital Services Act (DSA) will be the three main priorities of the French Presidency of the EU Council, Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton said on his Twitter account, after a meeting with French Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire on Monday 8 November. In response to the global shortage, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, announced an initiative in her State of the Union address (see EUROPE 12791/4), which has been part of the EU’s strategic autonomy since the pandemic (see EUROPE 12756/22). Negotiations on the DMA/DSA legislation are currently difficult, but an agreement is expected in the first half of 2022 (see EUROPE 12821/8). (PH)
