09/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) published its annual report on antisemitism in the EU on Tuesday, 9 November, and reported significant gaps in data collection. Few [Member] States record antisemitic incidents properly, and some—such as Hungary and Portugal—do not collect any official data, the agency indicates. “The lack of data also hinders us to effectively counter antisemitism. EU countries need to step up their efforts to encourage reporting and improve recording and data collection”, declared FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty in a statement on Tuesday. In addition, the agency draws attention to the increase in antisemitic incidents in the context of the health crisis (see EUROPE 12734/25) and notes that these incidents remain largely under-reported. It also indicates that only 13 Member States have adopted strategies against antisemitism. To read the report: https://bit.ly/3DbqcPq (AC)
