29/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 28 October, the European Commission launched a public consultation to last until 25 November on the possibility of including ethyl alpha-phenylacetoacetate (EAPA), a substance used in the production of illicit drugs, among the list of category 1 drug precursors, a category that includes the most sensitive of chemicals. This means that operators other than customs agents and transporters who are established in the Union will need to have a licence and be authorised to import or export EAPA. Operators and users will also need a licence to store or place the substance on the market. This initiative will additionally provide national authorities with the necessary legal basis to act upon when this substance is discovered. Link to the consultation: https://bit.ly/3nWFZLZ (SP)
