Covid-19, EU medical assistance to Romania continues

21/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – In response to Romania’s request for assistance, new offers of anti-Covid 19 medicines and medical aid have been made through the EU’s civil protection mechanism, the European Commission announced on Thursday 21 October. Austria provided 1,075 packages of medicines and France 89,030 additional vials of medicines, 18 respirators and medical equipment and accessories. This is in addition to the oxygen concentrators delivered last week from the RescEU pool or supplied by other EU countries (see EUROPE 12813/21). Earlier this week, a medical team from Moldova also arrived in Romania to provide specialised medical assistance, while Romanian patients are being transported to Hungary for treatment. In a statement, EU Commissioner Janez Lenarčič thanks Austria, France, Hungary and Moldova for their help. (AN)
