21/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 21 October, the French Aviation Industry Federation (FNAM) called on the French government not to implement the agreement signed 3 days earlier between the European Union and Qatar on air transport standards (see EUROPE 12814/30). The sector’s main French federation believes that this agreement, which should allow Qatari airlines to operate freely to and from EU airports and vice versa for European airlines, is “imbalanced” due to the small size of the UAE’s market. “We are in an agreement that is a bad agreement”, FNAM President Alain Battisti told AFP, saying that the Qatari internal market is not large enough to be exploited by EU companies.
