21/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The spokesperson for the European External Action Service expressed concern on Thursday 21 October about the rising violence in Syria, calling on all parties to refrain from violence and show restraint. “We call on all parties to adhere to the principle of protection of civilians and international humanitarian law, and to avoid escalation and restore calm”, he added, reiterating the EU’s support for a full nationwide ceasefire. The statements come a day after violence killed at least 27 people in an attack on a military bus in Damascus and then in regime bombardment of rebel areas in the northwest of the country “in one of the deadliest days in the country in recent times”, the spokesman said.
