15/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Friday 15 October that the EU is helping Romania to treat patients with Covid-19 through its Civil Protection Mechanism,. In response to a request for assistance from the Romanian authorities, the EU has already provided 200 oxygen concentrators from the RescEU strategic medical reserve hosted by the Netherlands, 50 oxygen concentrators from Poland and 5,200 vials of monoclonal antibodies from Italy. In addition, 15 ventilators and eight oxygen concentrators will be transported from Denmark to Romania. In a statement, the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, said he wished to “thank Denmark, Italy, Poland and the Netherlands for their prompt assistance to Romania”. Up to 75% of transport costs will be co-financed by the European Commission. (AN)
