15/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – On a visit to Washington on Thursday 14 October, the French Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, urged the United States to eliminate “as quickly as possible the subjects of tension between the United States and Europe”, according to AFP. He was referring to the steel and aluminium tariffs introduced by the US in 2018, on which EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo must find a solution by 1 December. The Minister suggested that “a few months” be given to settle the dispute definitively. However, according to a source quoted by Reuters on 13 October, the US is confident of reaching a deal by 1 December. (LM)
