Brussels, 24/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, was still to define, on Friday 24 September, with Mariusz Kamiński, the Polish Minister of the Interior, the possibility of going to the border between Poland and Belarus, where Poland has been accused by NGOs of turning back migrants. The Commission, through spokesman Adalbert Jahnz, also indicated on the same day that the two officials had not yet found a framework and schedule for telephone talks, as the Commission had said on 23 September. “The situation is a bit more complicated than we had imagined”, said Mr Jahnz. The phone call could be about Frontex intervention in the area, “which would be an excellent idea”, but which Poland does not seem to be willing to consider at the moment. (SP)
