24/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton confirmed at a press briefing on Thursday 23 September that he had addressed the issue of space traffic management during his trip to the United States on Monday 20 September and Tuesday 21 September. Interviewed by EUROPE, he indicated that he had spoken at length on this subject with Bill Nelson, the administrator of the US space agency NASA, and Gina Raimondo, the US Secretary of Commerce. “We have plans to accelerate together” in this area, he said, mentioning a partnership involving “very frequent” meetings between the European Commission’s teams and those of its American counterparts. The European Commission wants to launch a project in space traffic management. A reflection process is underway among Member States (see EUROPE 12789/8). (PH)
