21/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – A public consultation launched by the European Commission on Tuesday 21 September is to remain open until 18 October in order to prepare for the 2022 review of the implementation of EU environmental legislation – the EIR (Environment Implementation Review). It is a regular cycle of analysis, dialogue and collaboration with Member States intended to improve their implementation of EU environmental policy and legislation. The 2022 review will include 27 reports from countries on the progress they have each made in meeting its obligations and a European Commission Communication identifying common challenges and priority actions for all the countries. The first review was adopted in February 2017, the second in April 2019 (see EUROPE 12230/11).
