21/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – A year has passed since the European Commission adopted its Anti-Racism Action Plan (see EUROPE 12563/2). On Tuesday 21 September, some forty NGOs and associations involved in the field - in particular against anti-Gypsyism, antisemitism and Islamophobia - took the opportunity to submit to the Commission their recommendations for the coming year. They call on the institution, among other things, to assist States in finalising their national action plans against racism and to establish a working group on racial justice. They also stress the need for regular dialogue between the Commission’s anti-racism coordinator (see EUROPE 12720/20) and civil society. Finally, they call for the publication of the results of the open-ended and anonymous survey promised by the Commission on diversity and inclusion among its staff.
