13/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Community of European Railway and Infrastructure (CER) called on the European Commission on Monday 13 September, under the framework of the Western Balkans 2021 Rail Summit, for better inclusivity of the region in the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The CER also emphasised – in view of the revision of the TEN-T regulation (see EUROPE 12788/14) – the importance of adequate funding for rail projects. “Adequate financing of rail projects is a priority. An efficient rail system in the region will allow Central Europe to be better connected via rail to potentially very important commercial partners, such as Turkey and the Middle East. We must take all opportunities to remind the European institutions that the TEN-T network should also include the Balkan route”, insisted Alberto Mazzola, Executive Director of the CER. (TM)
